I am now in Steinkjer Norway. Nothing here for fish at all.
I mailed my snails in the mail here and they are in a tank with sand, water, large amphipods and 2 eels from the fyords down the street. My fishtanks and furniture have not arrived here yet. We will be living here as it is extremely expensive to live in Norway. Anyway, When I move into my house and get my fish tanks here, anyone who can help me or provide any information can message me. Thanks for all the information you guys have provided me so far. Eric. |

Going through alot right now as my wife or I have to have a job before I can get residency. Or have a bunch of money in our bank. If my wife cant get a job we will have to wait 10 months for an answer to see if I can have residency. I hope they approve it -- They wouldnt seperate a Father from his family would they? I guess that is a question for another forum. I will have a car on Sunday and will be able to drive to places and see what I can get. Our household stuff gets here next week but I am not sure our house will be ready to set up my reef yet. I am willing to drive anywhere for cheap or free frags :cheesy: Eric |

I thought that was more or less a given if you are married and have kids togheter, anyway worst case would be that you had to renew your papers every 6-12 months or so if you dont get a permanent residency, shouldnt be any problem judging from the US guys im working with here.
Dont really know where your best bet for reefstuff would be, i think you might have to get in touch with other reefers and buy or trade privat for livestock, but i havnt really seen much people in here from that area. |

Thanks Frogfish!
Thanks for the info Stoffer, What city are you close to? What company do you work for that has Americans? I need a job and I have a college degree with finance background. I think there is 1 American living here in Steinkjer. I need to find this person and see if they can help me. I am assuming most Americans here are engineers. I now consider myself Norsk and will be on this site alot. I dont know very much Norwegian, but I am learning. Thanks for any help or advice for me. Frogfish, I need to come visit you over there in Bergen, but I have a feeling it is a looooong drive  Eric |

Im in Oslo,, or live close outside.
I work at a games comp called Funcom, but it dont think its very unique for norwegian comps to hire english speaking workers in this area. Although im guessing Steinkjer will be a whole other deal, getting jobbs in the major cities should be fairly easy as the is in general a lack of workforce, one reason why we have workers from almost 30 contries |

I apologize if this isnt the appropriate place for this, but I am trying to get this out to as many people as possible:
I just moved here to Norway from the U.S. I graduated from SWT University in Texas with a Bachelors in International Studies. I have been a Financial Analyst for the past 8 years (NASA, City of Houston, United Space Alliance)and I am looking for any work. I will cut up fish, work at an oil company, work labor, Rema- anything. I dont care if I have an office job or a labor job, just need money to support my family. Now located in Steinkjer and there are not many opportunities here. I wold love to live in either Trondheim, Tromsø or Oslo. If you know of anything at all please let me know and I can apply. Thank you. Eric Bucher |
